[rebel-builders] Moose: Baggage area extension

Hi Ted
I am about to start the same task of adding inside corner wraps top and bottom.
What material thickness (assuming 6061-T6 Al) did you use for the wraps?
How did you pre-bend them?
Thanks,
Jack Joos SR193

Murphy recommends that if you're not putting in the rear baggage door (I'm
not) then you should extend the top corner wraps (normally only between
bulkheads A & C on both sides) to bulkhead D (or E). So I figured I might
as well add bottom wraps too. Then I figured since I'm fabricating the
additional channels (20 total!) I might as well add a few more and add them
to the floor. Then I can extend my baggage area (only for very light-weight
stuff such as sleeping bags and clothes) to bulkhead E. Almost 40 hours
later I'm almost done (ha!) with this modification. I will have to add some
slot and corresponding cover to the rear of the floor extension in the very
rear to allow for the elevator & rudder cable runs. I still have to nut
plate the floor to the floor channels. I'll have retaining nets/fabric of
some sort attached to the E bulkhead as well as the B bulkhead when
finished.

[rebel-builders] Moose: Baggage area extension

I simply got add'l fus-0033 from Murphy for the corner wraps. It's too bad
in that the fus-0033 you get from Murphy is almost, but not quite, wide
enough for two inside wraps. Hence, one ends up wasting a good portion of
each piece.

I used 0.040 for the floor and 2024 T3 0.036 (aluminum place had these odd
sheets but no 6061 T6 0.032 when I was picking up material) for the
channels.

[rebel-builders] Moose: Baggage area extension

When I did my baggage extension I made floor pieces out of 0.032 and used a
metal roller to roll the sides to match the curve of the bulkheads. The
initial curve doesn't have to match perfectly. It'll pull down onto the
bulkhead curves as you cleco and rivet into place.
