Got some questions.

Here's how I interpret or don't interpret MAM's instructions for the float
h.p. installation from manual 07/27/94 for the Rebel:

Steps 1-5 concern themselves with making a hole in the rolled corner for
the
float bracket to stick through. Done that.

6-8 I drilled holes in the bracket through the original bulkhead 'A'.

9-14 I nested two additional bulkheads together, reversed them and drilled
holes through them from bulkhead 'A' and the bracket.

15 I've postponed riveting the bracket to the three bulkheads.
16 drilled holes at the top of the two nested float bulkheads
17 postponed riveting these together
18, 19 MAM says to drill holes through the 'new' bulkhead flange into the
sides, corners, and floor. Is 'new' the doubled float bulkheads?
20 made a cover strip for the three bulkheads
21 'Drill and rivet into the flanges of the bulkheads....' Is this about
connecting the strip to the three bulkheads?

So it seems that the nested float bulkheads are riveted to the sides,
corners,
and bottom skins. They are also riveted to bulkhead 'A' at their tops
directly
as well as indirectly at the rolled corners via the float bracket.

I have nearly completed the framework for the inner floor. Could I at this
time attach the floor channel brackets to the nested float bulkheads? Where
and when do I attach the floor inner panel (fus 41) and the floor corner
wraps
(fus 33)? To the float bulkhead or bulkhead 'A' or both?

I don't see any drilling or riveting between Bulkhead 'A' and the fuselage
skins. I assume this will come later.

Phew!! (That came out of my lungs, not the lower gastrointestinal tract!) I
think that does it. Really appreciate your input.

Have you called Murphy Tech Support? I find that they are great for
clarifying the manual. Robin Dyck is the most knowledgeable if you can get
him.

Dan,

The "new" bulkhead (flanges facing aft) sits immediately aft of bulkhead
"A" with the float hardpoint bracket between the two in the center of the
lower corners of the two bulkheads.

I have the main tailcone riveted together up to but NOT including bulkhead
"A", the "new" float hardpoint bulkhead and all four corner wraps that
attach to bulkhead "A". All of these will be assembled after I finish
clecoing the forward cabin area to the tailcone section. The main reason
for doing the assembly this way is because there are a lot of different
parts coming together at bulkhead "A" and I want to drill the final #30
holes thru everything at once. The easiest way for me to do this is to lay
each piece in place, drilling (3/32) and clecoing as I go. I find this most
important at those joints that have three or more pieces coming together.

I think most people can receive attachments although some service
providers have limits on file size, someone sent a AutoCad drawing
around to the AirSoob subscribers and it crashed a lot of servers and
the List sysop took a lot of heat. Keep the file small and there
shouldn't be a problem, the threshold of my provider is about 400K.
Please post it to the group.

Hi Tim et al;

(1) I'm using the MAM supplied primer Stits Poly-Fiber EP-420. First I try
to alodine everything I can get into sections of plastic rain gutter, which
is just about every thing but the skins. I scotch-brite the insides of the
skins and spray a light coat of the EP-420. Seems to work OK. I'm a novice
at spray painting (actually at most of the things I find myself getting
into with the Rebel), so some spots didn't adhere as well as I thought
epoxy should. My main objective is to make sure all overlapping parts and
joints are sealed with primer. I do not plan to prime the innards of the
wings, just the fuselage.

(2) No, they were solid. I made a simple plywood fixture for the drill
press and with a 1-1/4 inch hole saw drilled holes on about 2-1/4 inch
centers. I made a simple aluminum "punch and die" that I put in each hole
and squeezed them together in a bench vise. Adds a little time but looks
great, and the flange actually makes them quite a bit stiffer. I will
probably limit this to the "optional" flooring areas.

I like Ramona. The rock outcroppings there are reallay a beautiful sight
from the air.

Anyway, I received your Rebel picture. I have two questions:

1) What promer are you using?
2) Did your 2" channel for use under the floorboard come with those
lightening holes in it, or did you do that yourself?
