[rebel-builders] Fin Install clearance

I like to trim the leading edge of the fin so it takes a piece of rubber
channel/edging for a nice tight fit on the fuselage... ie about a 1/32" to
1/16" of clearance.

As for the dorsal or ventral fins on a Rebel... purely personal esthetics.
The new owner of CYP removed the nice ventral fin, I'd made for Howard, this
summer. Said it made absolutely no difference in how it flew... and since
he's been flying since he was a teen comercially starting with
C185/Beavers/Norsemans in the bush and is a year away from mandatory
retirement off his 747, with way over 20,000 hours of air time... I'll take
his word for it.

Subject: [rebel-builders] Fin Install clearance

How much clearance should I allow between the bottom of the fin and the
top of the fuselage? Figure 12.4.4 in my manual implies that the fin is
not flush to the fuselage but there are no dimensions given. On the
subject of fins, is the extended fin recommended for extra stability when
on floats? I see pictures of some with and some without.
