seat stop pins

Folks,

I am trying to figure out how to drill centered holes
in the steel seat stop pins to install the spring
retainer and the lift ring for the seat release lever?
(sorry, I don't have my manual with all the part nos)
The steel is fairly hard and I am not sure my bits
will do the job. I was also wondering if anyone knows
the hole size for a nice tight fit for the pins that
retain the springs?

Thanks, -Jason

seat stop pins

Jason,

On my Rebel I filed a small flat on the side of the seat pin, center
punched it, clamped it in the drill vise, and drilled it. I don't recall it
being difficult to drill with HS drill bits. I do remember drilling them
undersize and driving the pins in. I did ruin one pin and had to drill the
hole larger and replace the stock pin with a small roll pin. Hope this
helps you.
