Hi Garry !

The pause is normal ! I could get the gear up or down in
about 16 slow strokes ....

Once, on short final into Pearson International, with a bunch
of WW I fighters on my tail, I discovered I had forgotten the gear -
it takes about 100 fast pumps if you are really scared !!!

?? The only reason that Wayne responded to that first was I couldn't see the screen for about 5min with the tears running down my face. It sure is good to get a good laugh every now and then!
?? As for my system, it's 15 cycles on the handle with the short pause at the top. It's funny, but the number is so ingrained that if I get the passenger to use the pump (careful choice of word here!!!) and they go more than 16 or 17 it immediately gets my attention!
? 10" of snow on the ground, more coming and wind gusts to 35mph today.
?? Is it spring yet? (no response from down under necessary<grin>)

Hi again Garry Seriously if you pump the full stroke each time you'll be
moving a fixed amount of oil with each stroke. this way you can know if you
have a leak right away. I don't mind having a bit of air in the system
because it acts like an accumilator and keeps the pressure up longer when
there's small leaks. I've never been able to get rid of the leaks inside my
cylinders so I always have to keep an eye on the pressure while on
pavement. It's not spring here yet. I'm storm stayed with all the local
highways closed lots of snow on the ground and lots more expected with
gusty winds backing to northwest which should also give some lake effect snow.

Well, I'd like to say the humour was intended, but I guess you guys wouldn't
believe me now... Have to admit, I couldn't believe my own eyes either when
I reread it after Wayne's post. And I don't believe in Freud either...

Now I have to get back to my hangar, if I ever want to get that engine
installed (was going to say mounted, but that just doesn't sound right now).
