Brake caliper clearance

I finally worked out the inner tube problem for my 8.50 tires on JDM wheels. I didn't want to use the cheap 8.00 tubes, because I ran into a guy on the web who did that on his CH 801 and had a rash of blowouts. Anyway Alaska Bushwheels sold me the proper valve stems, and I made a Frankentube out of my aircraft 8.50 tubes. It seems to be working well, although I still had to modify the wheels slightly.
Now I am worried about the calipers gouging the tires. I only have about 1/16 clearance. Is that sufficient, or do I need to change something? Can you add a washer or two between the brake rotors and the spacer? That would probably do the trick. Else I can take the caliper over to the belt sander and have at it. I also thought about asking MAM for a slightly thicker spacer, as it is cut from the same extrusion as the wheel center piece. If none of those ideas work out, I could make a thin spacer to go in there. Washers would be the easiest though.
Thanks
Jesse
