[rebel-builders] Inner rear floor usefullness

Hi Dave, I think you will get a number of replies - but for me it was a case
of strength, not necessarily the ability to carry anything. The additional
strength for the tail cone far out weighted the additional weight in my
mind. Also I think if you check the archives you will find quite a number of
emails discussing this subject.

Cheers

tailcone is already built so adding the inner rear floor will entail a fair
bit of work as well as drilling out a bunch of rivets. I'm contemplating just
putting in part of the rear inner floor behind the baggage area to give
additional space for light items like lawn chairs or foam mattresses. I'd
appreciate hearing from builders who have put the floor in on their
experiences on its' usefullness.

Hi Dave: Like Jim responded, there is a significant strength gain with the
floor. I have built three Rebel fuselages to date with the rear floor in
all. It really does give you lot of options for sliding in various light
weight baggage items as well as a good surface to slide your body down into
the tailcone for those inspections. I would definitely say "DO IT" You will
regret it if you don't. Bob J

[rebel-builders] Inner rear floor usefullness

I have my floor all the way back, too, and make very good use of it. When we go to the lake, there is often a lot of larger soft light stuff that gets put back there, and many times have had it jammed all the way to the back. Also, sometimes I haul the odd awkward long thing back there (like a weedwhacker). So for sure, I would strongly recommend putting in the floor all the way to the back.

On the weight and balance, if you have a 320, usually you are nose heavy anyway, so you will likely be overweight long before you run out of aft c of g. And what I found with my Rebel when it is fully loaded, it flys just fine once you get off, and even cruise speed is barely affected.
