SG 14

Well I'm at the point of installing the famed spring gear.
The manual says to lighten the SG 14, this is where you cut a 2 1/8 hole between the ribs and then cut them out on an angle

this shows a little what it looks like?
My question then is can I leave the SG14 as a whole plate rather than cut them this way? On the inside of the cabin where the seat rails will go, I just don't like the way it will look!
Any help out there?
