Doublers at the bottom of the bulkheads and all the false bulkheads just
ahead of the step. Also some extra stringers or heavier material for the
main wheelwell side panels. Other than that I think they've proven to be
pretty stout floats.

Doublers on the main bulkheads too?
Last I heard there were only cracks on the false bulkheads.

Only the false bulkheads Ken. Have not seen issue with any of the mains.

Other than that....all I have to offer is that the 1800 amphib float build
CD's are still available at $175 Cdn + postage for anyone that wants/needs
one.

[rebel-builders] 1800 amphib floats

I first heard about this wheel well side panel problem this summer when some
of you reported leaks and crinkles. I looked at mine but couldn't see any
problem.

Is this something new, or has it been seen before? Are all the 1800 amphib
skins the same thickness at that point, or did this change? I remember the
discussion about doublers. And has a preventative fix been developed that
doesn't involve taking things apart?

I have seen no issues there either Walter...even on Howard's 7 season set
with a LOT of grass strip landings here for fuel.

woops you're right Ken I was typing faster than I was thinking. After I
reported wrinkles and cracks in one of my wheelwells a couple other
builders said they found the same problem. There's some pictures in the
archives from someone elses repairs. The other upgrade to consider is using
die springs instead of the urethane pucks for main gear suspension.
