Service Bulletin - Die Spring Gear Struts from O.I.F.A.

I just want to remind everyone that has bought these struts from me, for
your Rebel/Renegade/etc, that you do need to occassionally..like once a
year...maintain them. Simple as spraying some HP grease into the slider slot
behind the spring (keeps moisture out + lubes them) and some engine oil,
LPS-2 or anything similar should be sprayed/squirted in between the sliding
tubes to keep them lubed and mainly to keep them from rusting internally. I
have a Rebel here right now that I'm doing a Subura to Lycoming conversion
on (thanks Walter for the "donor") and found his left strut seized solid.
Even removed from the aircraft it still had the spring compressed 1/2" (=
over 700lbs of force) and wouldn't retract. Took me a LONG time to get it
apart and a lot of rust breaker solution to soak it in.

Thanks for listening, now go out and lube the darn things before you're in
the same boat!
