Advantage...you can tap 12 volts off for other accessories in the
airplane..like your cell phone, portable GPS etc.

Subject: [rebel-builders] 24V system--new battery

My avionics and existing wiring are all set up for 24V. I need to buy a
new
battery. I want to mount it on the firewall, but don't have a whole lot
of
room. Also, want to use gel-cell for maintenance issues. What I'm
thinking
of doing is getting two 12V batteries (each is thinner than one 24V) and
mounting them in series to get my required 24V. With two (thin) 12's I
can
find room to mount them up front.

Any advantages / disadvantages of getting two 12V and hooking them in
series
vs a single 24V? Any suggestions for make/model battery?

I don't get along too well with electrical stuff <grin>, so any and all
advice is welcome.

Thanks!

Ted
