[rebel-builders] Rebel - exhaust choices?

Hi Drew !

I think most are going for the Forsling stainless exhausts
from MAM - similar to Van's - but with angles for the Rebel.
They're pretty nice, with expansion joints & ball joints ...
but no mufflers ... and a bit tight for heat muffs ...

From what I've heard, the jury is still out on the Powerflow -
seems some folks aren't seeing any more power .... and that's
a LOT of cash !!

You should talk to Angus M. - he has a local connection
for making up custom stainless exhausts ( they're a bit
larger diameter .... something about 'milk piping' ...) ;-) :-)
His seems to work well.

Also, I think Gary Wolf, up at Kitchener, could be persuaded
to put something together - maybe ala Rotax setup - 4 into
a tank & 1 out - more power, AND quieter !

Ideally I'd buy a powerflow 4 into 1 tuned system but $3500 is too rich for
me. I would like to get a muffler on whatever I choose.

I forgot just how loud the MAM/Forsling straight pipes are..until I check
rode the new owner of CYP this spring. I couldn't tolerate that climb out
racket..day in day out. I can hear a Rebel coming from 5 miles with that
exhaust, compared to mine that I can sneak into the field coming home from
the lake and catch the kids mid pool party! I love my old style 2 into 1 x 2
system I got from MAM in 1994. Same thing Gary has on FOKM. If it's still an
available choice, which it probably isn't from MAM, I'd be going with
it...even if it may rob a couple horsepower.

[rebel-builders] Rebel - exhaust choices?

Hello Wayne,

I bought a use (but as new) complete stainless steel exaust system with muffler and muff, I am pretty sure it come from a C-152 but may be a
172. It should work on 0-235 and 0-320. May be I will have some modifications to do, but I thank it was a good starting point for $400.00!
Shoul be quiet if it could be fit...

Hi Drew
2" stainless sanitary piping from Dennis Hodgins, Stainless Welding, Hwy7
St.Mary's, on the west side of the river across from Riverbend Golf.
Took him a set of core 0-320 cases (borrowed from Leggats)with old
cylinders and my old MAM exhaust, about 2 months and $400.he also included
welded on stainless muff flanges on each side.
Too nice to cover up with a cowl. And other than noise no issues, it's
only attached at the flanges and no other bracing, around 200+hrs since
installation....Angus
