Hey Jean, that means you should have better cooling with the exit air not
getting hung up on that lip.

Hum... I just discover that I have prepare (drill, contersunk and debur)
the firewall with fus-11 sides and fus-7 floor with the "lips" or "tab" of
the firewall facing the "pilot" instead the "prop"... Parts looked to fit
much better this way (except may be for the cowling installation) ! Do I
have to change it? If I have to change it, do I "groove" the firewall to
let a space the fus-11 flange or if I cut the fus-11 flange?

Structurally I don't think it matters. It will move your engine forward
1/2" which might make a difference if you plan for an 0-320 and a metal
prop. On the plus side it will be easier to fit radios.

Hi Jean !

That was very smart of you ! It will give better cooling, and maybe
a bit more speed. Absolutely no problem - other than mounting the
cowling, as you already noted -- and that's not a biggie !!! You might
have to cut slots to allow the side support channels through the
firewall, then fasten them aft ..... might be good to fit them before
rivetting in the firewall !

Keep rivetting - the Ramble is coming !! :-)

There is a bulletin on that Jean.
Don't have time right now to look it up but think it said it should be
installed with flanges facing forward. I think there will be difficulty
with the engine mount fittings if you reverse it.

Hello Bob

The "side support channel" you are talking about, are the ones between the
four "big doors" of your cowling? I think I could also weld some tab on the
firewall if they are a necessity for the cowling...
