Paint air system

Ted,
The following is my understanding of the reason for fresh air supply:

If the PPG Concept paint is a polyurethane then you are playing Russian roulette without a fresh air mask such as the Hobby Air. Those give off a compound that not every one is sensitive to but many can be sensitized to over time. (Similar to an allergy) Filter masks are not effective and the only sure fix is positive pressure air from a source area not contaminated by the paint. From what I understand, if you get the black ball someone else gets to finish your plane. Can I suggest you contact both a knowlegeable supplier of Concept and also a painter familiar with the safety aspects of polyurethane paint application.

On the other hand if it is an enamel then a respirator with properly rated cartridges will be ok.

Personally, as someone who has had a bought of bronchitis in the past I will do what it takes to safeguard my lungs. Now back to the dust mask and the lawn mower. :(:(
