Hi Wray

You might want to include the following on your "Hints" page, although I may be
about the only one that was not aware of it:

While the old (1992) manual does not mention it, the newer manual recommends
that angle brackets be used at the ends of the floor channels to tie them to the
bulkheads etc.

unfortunately Ken I've reached my 12meg limit and Idirect will only give me more space if
I sign up for my own URL ...then I can get up to 20meg but it will cost me an additional
$26+ per month.
Sooo I can't add to much more stuff. I'll try the hint page and see how I do.

Wray, you're welcome to put your graphics on the dcsol.com ftp site, just
link to them in your HTML code... I wouldn't imagine you'll use more than
12MB for the HTML, and I've got a couple of GB free for graphics.

Thanks Mike I'm still working on idirect to change their policy but if that doesn't work
then I'll do some rewrites and put some of the graphics over.

I'm trying to install the floor channels but I'm not sure from my manual
what the dimensions are pointing to. i.e. on the pilots side it says 7
1/8" is that to the middle of the 2 channels? or the middle or outer
edges of one of the channels? It looks most like it's pointing to the
middle of the inner most channel in all cases. Does that work out ok for
seat rails, wraps etc.?

Wray,

That is how I installed the floor channel on the pilots side, 7 1/8" to the
flange center on the inside channel. The channels running aft of this line up
on the inside channel (by my interpretation of the manual drawing).

I can send you any number of digital photos if you'd like.

I found this a bit confusing too and never got a definitive answer.
Basically I measured the distance between the sticks and layed it out so the
seats were that distance apart with the pilots seat 1" further inboard. I
also used two channels under each seat rail.
Hope this helps.

Hi Wray

The measurement for the passenger side is in the manual. The pilot side is
1' further inboard. I put 2 channels back to back in the centre of each seat
rail. The rivets in the seat rail will have good edge distance in the
channels. I also put additional channels to pick up the seat rails at the
back. I installed the other channels as shown.

Good Luck

Thanks for your replies guys. I just have to get more ST-31 now as my
older kit didn't count on the double channels I guess.

Hello all,

Back so soon....

It appears to me in the manual that the rivets that attach the rolled corners are supposed to pick up the floor channels as well. Due to the depth of the flange on the side and bottom skins the ST31 channels can't be pushed in far enough to do this.

Have the parts changed or am I doing something wrong (always my first assumption). Do you just slide the channels over and create a seperate row of rivets for them?

Thanks in advance.

Floor Channels

Hello, All:

I am at the point in my Rebel project where it is time to install the under
floor channels in the tail cone. The plans call for putting some channels
on the center line of the lower skin between the bulkheads. If I do that,
the rivets will fall on the crease in the skin. It seems to me that placing
the rivets there will distorted the skin. Has anyone slightly off set those
channels? Perhaps alternating the location of those channels from left
offset to right offset between bulkheads? That way the rivets could miss
flatting the stiffening crease.

Or am I just overthink this whole thing?

Thanks.
