murphy-rebel Digest for 7 Jun 2000

Roger,
This subject was on the list quite some time ago and you may be able to
search the archives for more information. As a result of the discussions
I inserted my bolts so the nuts were on the outside to allow easy and
continuos inspection. I believe a few others have done likewise.
One exception is on the SR rear spar attachment.
One of these bolts has to have the nut on the inside in order to clear
the flap. And even having done that, plus running a file over the corner
of the bolt head, I'm still going to have to give the flap LE a slight
whack with a hammer to clear the bolt as it just grazes. MAMs SR also
has a custom dent in the flap to clear the bolt. I don't thing this is a
concern on the Rebel but may be on the Elite.

Subject: Horizontal Stabilizers-Rebel
I'm about to finish the horizontal stabilizers and was wondering if
anyone
recommends (or not) putting an access/inspection plate in the bottom
skin to
access/inspect the bolts/nuts of the (inner) elevator hinge, rear
stabilizer
attach bracket, and the strut attach bracket?
