Hi Garry,

I am living in Varsity Village, northwest side of
Calgary near the University. Last night was my first
night working on my SR since moving here!

By the way, you don't happen to know if there are
suppliers in Calgary of:

1) 6061 T6 sheet metal
2) general aircraft hardware and parts?

Hi Rebel builders

I have been flying my Elite 752E for a year and have
recently fitted it with Clamar composite amphib
floats.
I have noted some problems with the hard points rear
mount. They were not properly built out by the
original builder.
Can anyone send me pics of reinforced hard points or
fixes for this area. I have taken the bulkheads out
and am rebuilding it with .50 gussetts
and thicker skin .26 2024. At OSH murtec told me that
most builders were reinforcing the area by double
skinning.

Wayne had fix which doubled the thickness of the bulkheads and extended the
doubler 6 inches or so past the corners as well, did not need to double
skin, think there are pics on the builders site as well, or on his web site,
if not I can scan some pics I have when I did his fix

Note the weakness on the bulkheads where they are cut
out.Hoping to overcome this with the .050 gussett.

Hi Jason,

I used to live in Dalhousie, not far from where you are now. I am a long
way south of where you are right now but we will doubtless meet. There
is a local EAA chapter that meets at High River first Thursday at 6:30
each month. Supper is usually laid on and cost a couple of bucks. Lots
of guys there with all the dope on the local scene.

I don't know of a source here for 6061 sheet. Leavens is in Calgary and
carries 2024 and will probably get 6061 for you. There are many many
sources of everything in Calgary for aviation. If it isn't in Calgary it
will be in Edmonton. Plan ahead though because it can take some time.
