poly-brush if you have gear legs to do as well. On mine I should have
ordered more poly-spray but instead just did 3 coats on top and 2 on the
bottoms of the ailerons.

Robert Johnson wrote:Ken and all. I painted Rebel "652" using the following: (1) gallon zinc
wasepoxy primer(very light yellow color-dries fast), (1) gallon gray primer,
also epoxy type and dries very quick, and (2) gallons of silver gray finish
coat. All of this paint is an acrythane 2 part epoxy type from "Seco". I
total ofvery pleased with the coverage and durability. I even used the finish coat
on the fabric covered flaperons after testing on a sample prepared the
normal poly fiber method. This stuff does not crack when flexing the fabric
or when bending a painted piece of aluminum. when dry it is almost
impossible to scratch. I would recommend this paint to anyone. Best of
all-it is not very expensive.-Total cost for above with the necessary
thinners and hardeners was $560.00. It cost me $440.91 for the Stits
supplies just to do the flaperons.( 1 gal poly spray, 1 gal poly brush, 1
qt. poly tack, 1 gal reducer, but also including a qt. of the EP420 green
epox primer used on the airframe.-Hope this helps.-Go see your local Seco
dealer-The color choices are unlimited. Bob Rebel "652"-Flying Flying

Sanity check here. Each Rebel aileron is approx 18 sq ft (x 4) for a
per72 Sq Ft. If you go by the Poly Fiber book, the Poly-Brush covers 150 s.f.
(coatgallon. The requirement is for 1 brush coat and an additional spray coat
with at#2) and another optional spray coat (coat #3). Probably should add some for
the finishing tapes. If the 150 sf/gal is for each coat then I come up
theleast 1 1/2 mixed gallons for the Poly Brush. I will probably go with just
gallonbrush coat and 1 spray coat. This would require material for 144 sf. A
mixedof Poly Brush mixed 3-1 yields 1.33 gallons. That should be enough.
Poly spray covers 200 sf/gal and the required coverage is 3 sprayed
cross coats which is really six coats. 72 x 6 = 432 sf. It looks like 2
fewgallons are required here (sounds like a lot of material) and it is only a
plan atdollars more just to buy 2 gallons vs 1 gallon and 3 qts. So that is the
efforts tothis point. A quart of Poly Tac should be enough.
To recap here is my Poly fiber shopping list,
1 gallon Poly Brush (pink stuff)
2 gallons Poly Spray (aluminum stuff)
1 gallon reducer (thinning stuff)
1 quart Poly Tac (sticky stuff)
I see several others at this point in the project. I am renewing my
Drewget my Rebel finished.
