Is that the voice of experience? About tail wheel springs was it you that
said they where using a modified trailer spring from Prince auto, If so I
would like to bother you for some info on the installation and part # of
spring. Also I'm about to order a full swiveling tail wheel any one out there
have any suggestions.

running a modified trailer spring from Prince auto? If so could I get some
installation info from you and maybe a part # for the spring. Also I'm about
to order a full swiveling tail wheel any one out there have any suggestions

Phil,
If you don't want to use the Murphy full swivel tail wheel,
then go for a Scott 3200 (they make a 2200, but it's almost the same
price, ! ). Generally, the extra weight of the 3200 helps the CG ;-)

Avoid the Maule tailwheels - they're cheaper (in 2 ways ! :-( )
They all tend to shimmy as they get older, and that's hard on the tail.
Angus had problems with a bad (porous) casting on a 1 year old Maule
tailwheel - it shattered at the rivet for the serial number plate. His
rudder & elevator & trim tab were damaged in the ensuing flailing !!

Haven't broken a fibreglass tailspring yet, but suspect that
would be better than a bent fuselage ! (just MHO :-) )
