Inspection

Post by Jim Cole » Sun Feb 19, 2012 12:08 pm

Good day.
I had my inspection yesterday and things went pretty well.
There are a couple of pieces of paper that I need though to finish off this
week ( along with a few snags)

1- A letter or note from Murphy stating that the rudder cables that turn at
the rear of the cage a little more than 3 degrees is acceptable. (my
inspector knows that most Rebels only have the cable guides??)
2 - A letter from Murphy stating the fore and aft C of G, design
limitations for the Rebel. (my inspector said that this was a new request)

I wasn't sure if anyone had such a letter or bulletin, so that I don't have
to wait to track something down through Murphy on Tuesday with Monday being
a holiday here in Canada.

Thanks
Jim

Hi Jim

I believe I put an angle bracket on each side of the slot in the top
door frame that the plastic protrudes down through. A bolt through the
plastic and the brackets is the pivot. Think I rivetted or bolted some
metal arms onto the plastic for the actuation mechanism. Both the
locking knob and the non locking knob came from Spaenaur. I can look up
part numbers if you like.

There is enough fiddling involved that you could probably speed things
up by just leaving the windows off and having it inspected without them.
ie you might add windows if it gets too cold for a snowmobile suit next
winter...

I work all weekend but could possibly arrange to drop by today if you
are there. Got to chop wood for a half day this morning or this
afternoon but I can "play" for part of today ;)

Hi Ken,
If you're out flying this weekend, I'd love to look at your window latches
again. It's one of the last things I have to do and I really like what
you've done on yours. I have one picture of your layout but I'm still having
trouble understanding the mechanism. Where are the pivot points - are there
two spots where the delrin joins the push piece?? Also where did you get the
nice knob - handle for the outside? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Jim
