[rebel-builders] Rebel Stab Material Thickness

Post by Mike Davis » Sun Feb 19, 2012 12:04 pm

Occasionally the total number of messages displayed gets messed up, but they
are still there. When I checked after reading this, it only showed 29
messages in the rebel list, but when I clicked on the list it showed a high
message number of 32,008.

Anyway, I have run the repair tool on the database to reset the counter, and
it now shows 31,994 messages in the rebel builders list.

Despite the error in reporting the number of messages in the database, it
should not have affected your search.

Mike

Gents,

Tried searching the archives on this but it looks like the server dumped
all the previous threads about a month ago?

So I am beginning to lose sleep over this one. The stab. skins for the
Rebel are .016 (which I know most of you know already). I am now clecoing
up the second stab (the left). The first stab (the right) is ready for
priming and then closure. Those skins, even when nice and tight on the
frame, are REALLY thin from my perspective. The leading edge is both
thicker, and bent, and stout, but the tops and bottoms have me worried.

Please help me.

Just tell me that .016 is good enough and I will stop worrying. My plane
will not go on floats, and it will have an O-235-L2C (125 hp) engine in
it.

Thanks!
Rich

Hi Rich !

.016 is good enough ! You can stop worrying !!! :-)

Seriously, I think the calculations showed that .016
would have done for the WING skins ! It was decided to
use .020 or .025 just in case someone leaned on it with
sharp elbows ! :-)

Don't know of anyone having any problems with
the stab skins. You DO have to be careful NOT to EVER
pull the Rebel around by pushing/lifting on the stab or fin --
like I see some people doing with Cessnas !! I put stickers
on the stab & fin saying "NO PUSH" and "NO LIFT" -
maaayyyybeeeee somebody will read before damaging !

As a general rule - never push, pull, or pack in truck
or trailer by supporting on flat flying surfaces, or attach points...
