drilling holes in a tube

Post by Snader, Douglas E. » Fri Feb 17, 2012 5:56 pm

I have one more question what is the best way to measure and mark the
torque tubes for drilling the eight evenly spaced holes?

DOUG
Use a square piece of paper the same size or a little larger than the tube.
Mark the corners then move it 45deg. and mark them again.

Doug

I marked the end caps then tranferred the marks.

You may also want to stagger the eight holes that go in from the end relative to
the eight that go in radially to prevent the rivets interfering with each other
during installation.

Cut a strip of paper maybe 1/2" wide - exactly long enough to wrap around
the tube so the ends meet. Fold the strip in half. Fold it again. Fold it
one more time. Unfold the strip and mark the creases to make it easier to
see them. Wrap the strip back around the tube and mark the tube.

HTML has nothing to do with MicroShaft. It's not even
the new wave. Used for years years on Mac, Unix, Linux
and all those other great systems.....even Windows.

Eric

P.S. Wray, your web site is awesome. I don't know
if these web and email impaired folks have problems
with your excellent, detailed cad drawings, but I've
been to your site many times and have found it very,
very valuable. Thanks for what must be a great
effort on your part.
