[rebel-builders] MOOSE: Aileron travel CH-12

Post by Richard Wampach » Sun Feb 19, 2012 12:04 pm

Rick: about aileron travel---

I had the same question about 6 weeks ago. I "E"-d to tech support and
a few days later they pointed me in the right direction.

12* up and 12* down min.

Go to the Murphy web sight, scroll down about a half page to the row of
pictures of their product line, click on "Moose", then on the left
"Moose tech support", then to the area on manual revisions. About 10
lines down to "chapter 12 controls". Open up chapter 12, go to the last
page (36 of 36) and you have it for all surface travels, and the
airspeed limits.

I have found it best to print any chapter that is listed here as I begin
to work on that component. This will give you the latest info and
includes mods from the 2500 to make it into the latest version of 3500,
to the original manual. Compare the parts lists of the old and new
versions and decide if you need to make any changes. Then study the
heck out of it to understand the modifications.

I used a long bolt and a bunch of washers to offset the head of the rod
end
from the control horn.

Clarification! I am talking about the push rod that is next to the
fuselage. The interference contact point is the crown that the ball end
bearing screws into and the horn. Is there suppose to be something to
offset the push rod 1/2" away from the horn?

I read through what I could find on the list regarding the controls for
the
moose/2500. My manual indicates that the angle between vertical and the
horn for the torque tube is 50 degrees. Apparently there has been some
variation here, others indicated 54 degrees. When I move the stick left
and
right I see interference between the push rod and the horn of the torque
tube as it pushes the horn forward. I do not get full travel!

The next issue is what is full travel? I cannot find in the manual what
the
travel of the aileron should be? What are others seeing?
