HI all
LPS comes in three types LPS1 , LPS2 , LPS3
LPS1 is a greaseless Lubricant and is found on most A&P's tool boxes.
LPS2 is a general purpose ,,, not used as much.
LPS3 is the one to use for long term proctection.. This used to be Boeings
choice for all their aircraft. They applied it as thick as they could get it
to stick on the metal. They Developed BOESHIELD T-9 which dries to a clean
waxy film , I haven't used T-9 but LPS3 never seems to dry and is very slimy
to the touch.
All of these are in Aircraft Spruce , they were giving out there 1998
catalog
for free 1 800 824-1930 http://www.aircraft-spruce.com
or on there WEB site.
I strongly recommend getting it if you dont have one , its a great info
source.
Regarding Ailerons spacing to the skin , I havent covered mine yet and I am
planing on changing the top row of rivets to the countersinking (dimple the
holes) I am worried that the fabric on the top skin will rub and wear in
this
area. I am also planing on putting metal covering instead of fabric in the
flaps ( I plan on splitting them to flaps and ailerons) ...

With the short distance between the hinge and the leading edge the only
practical method is to construct a spade sticking ahead of the aileron
below the wing. Wayne O'Shea of Midland did this with the factory's
knowledge. I think his weights were 7 to 8 lbs per side.
