Hi Jim: That type of extiquisher is O.K., the only thing I found inspection
wants is it to be secured in a metal bracket (not plastic like so many come
with) and accessible from the pilot's seat. Bob J

I was reading the CARS 549 to try and find out what type of fire
extinguisher was required for the Rebel. The only thing it said was - "One
approved for aircraft use"
I picked up one that was good for gas, oil, and electrical (class B & C)
so
I assume that should do it??? But what is approved for airplane use or
where
do I find the info?

Thanks for your help.

Thanks Bob/Jeff. Of course I just threw out a metal bracket while I was
cleaning up and the one I just bought has plastic - but again that's why I
asked.
Cheers

Hi Jim,
The BC extinguisher will work ok, but if you can find a Halon type you
wouldn't blind yourself if you had to use it in the cockpit during flight and no
mess. They are still available. 60.95 at Aircraft Spruce.

Hi Jim !

I've been lucky enough to find Halon extinguishers - no mess !
Usually mount on the pilots side, in front of the door - easy to
reach, and keeps the weight forward. (The ELT is mounted
on the passenger side, in front of the door .... same reason ;-) )
ELT antenna on the right wing/fuse gap strip, Comm antenna
on left side wing/fuse gap seal strip - easy to access...

Packing furiously for S 'n F - leaving tomorrow morning !
See everybody there ! :-)
