[rebel-builders] floor channel bracquets...

Hi Jean: One bracket each end of doubled channels is fine. I would recommend
having the seat frames sitting on the seat rails and using them for proper
spacing of the channels. I found the Murphy manual dimensions are not very
accurate as well as kind of confusing. Best regards. Bob J. Rebel 192/731

Hello

In the front floor area (under the seats), the channel made of st-31 are
doubled.
Are the littles bracquets made of st-40 should be doubled too? or one for
each
doubled channel is ok?

Depends on how strong you want it. A bracket on one side tries to twist
as the channel is loaded. A bracket on both sides will more than double
the strength. Does it matter? Probably not but I'll leave that to MAM or
someone like Wayne who repairs them.

With the channels back to back, they were not wide enough to pick up all
the seat rail rivets for me so I separated them a bit and used a bracket
on each channel. Actually I also reversed them so the flanges faced each
other.

In all honesty... with what I've seen......you can leave the clips off all
together and just tie with outer and inner floor. I do, definitely,
recommend them in the cabin proper section though (from carry thru back to
the double float point bulkhead)..one side is enough as they can't roll over
with top and bottom skins on....and besides single channels seemed to work
just fine originally.... as my floor is just fine after 12 years of climbing
in and out. In the rear tailcone "sleep" floor area...I don't bother anymore
with the angle clips...it's just extra weight/rivets that aren't necessary
IMHO.

Hello Wayne

Thanks. Couple of question that manual don't say a single word... or may be I do
not understand!

1- Is it the time to drill fus40 to fus-5 or it will be later with the "firewall
area"?

2- Do I drill floor channel with the bottom skins fus39 and fus40 to #30 and rivet
now?

3- For the clips in the cabin area, for those where the seat bracquet will go,
better wait... so if I have to "move" a bit the channels they will not be retain
by the clips?

4- Do I put clips between channel and fus-5?

Thanks

[rebel-builders] floor channel bracquets...

Jean...do not drill fus 40 to the rear tube /Fus-5 until you have flipped
the entire thing upside down and have the Fus-7 in place over top of them.
Then drill Fus-7/Fus-40 to the tubes as a unit.

I also don't rivet the floor channels in until the fus is upside down and
all drilling has been done to complete it. Then take it all apart, debur and
reach under/cleco and rivet the channels to Fus-39 after you've cleco'd the
Fus10/70 in place.

The channels that go onto the Fus-40 can be riveted to it while it's off the
airplane.... if you have just cut your channels off square. Then place the
Fus-40 and channel assembly back onto the lower bulkheads and rivet it as a
unit.

I go back in after the whole fuselage has been riveted together and add the
clips to the channels in the cabin area. Very easy to do with a 45* angle
aviation drill.

As for clips into Fus-5 tube definitely for the bungee gear fuselage since
you only have .020 skins in this high stress area. Builders choice on the
spring gear since it has .083 of material top and bottom holding the
channels in place.
