In the old manuals, there WAS a section on installing the cowling,
for both Lycosaurus & 912. These sections <may> now come with the particular
cowling package ....

Which engine are you using, Ian ?? Have you ordered the cowling
package for it - standard or "speed" (no speed improvement - just sexy) ??

reference in the manual
to either the engine installation or the fitting of the cowling (etc)

Have I missed something or does the factory not give this information.

I would appreciate some help.

Hi Ian

I ordered the speed cowling which is a pain to fit but I really like it.
Probably not much difference in speed but the visibility is great. Would
not trade it for anything else that I have seen on the Rebel. It does come
with instructions which is some help. The engine installation instructions
are about next to useless. It gives you something to think about for a few
minutes but then you get on with your own way of doing it. Don't even think
about buying the installation kit from MAM. It is a terrible waste of
money. Just buy the cowling, mount, & oil cooler if you like and order the
rest of it yourself unless you want to add another 5 pounds of overweight &
underacheiving hardware. Buy the Bingelis book on engine installation,
there are 2 of them and they are both of great value. The newest one has
some great photos & is quite helpful. Buy the baffle kit from Vans
Aircraft - they sell both the kit & plans. The baffle kit is great, really
great. Just be prepared to spend lots of time on the details.

Happy building.
