Hi Wayne !

You're on a pretty slow dial up line - but I thought the
new site was going to be much better than the old one
for dial-up ..... Does it take a long time to load the
first page, or is it slow between pages ???

Guess you could just pick the airplane you're
after right away, without waiting for all the pictures
to load .... does it work that way for you ??

At least all the tech support article links now
work !

What do you think of the look & feel of the
new layout ?? Any comments from others ????

G'day Guys ('n' Gals ...... do we actually HAVE any "gals" building ?!?!?)

The new MAM site definitely looks far "less cluttered" admittedly ....... and that isn't a bad thing in some ways ..
(people get a quick flash of "aeroplanes in action" as it were - it's a psychological plus if you are chasing NEW / interested people ... )

BUT ................. WHERE the hell did all the "Builders", "Builders' projects", & "Finished Rebels" (& Mavericks, Renegades, Mooseseses etc go ?!?!?!?!?)

Personally : I think it suits the "grab & enthuse" crowd - but fails to acknowledge the builders & the "mines completed & FLYING" - so come take a look ! - crowd ... :o(

(it's a bit "out with the old & IN with the new" )

Perhaps a link (for "members only") for all that builder information that has just disappeared !?!

Just my 2 cents worth

Hello Bob,

In interview of KitPlane magasine, if my memory is good, the owner of Rans
say the only way to stay in business was to still selling airplanes... So
the Murphy marketing should be a important service. Next could be "parts
delivery" ... I know that my opinion is "opportunist" LOL

Actually it isn't too bad on my 40k dial up.
Clicking links before the pics load does work fine. I use the Firefox
browser and did not get hung up or stalled waiting for a pic to finish
loading. The pics are smaller and more dial up friendly than they used
to be. Rick is correct that a few completions might be a nice touch to
reassure the guy who shies away from all those rivets and is thinking of
a simpler design.

[rebel-builders] MAM website

by NormIsler
Not one to be shy when opinions are asked for, I'll throw in my comments on
the new web page for consideration as well.

I like the look of the new Murphy website.

It's a great start.

I am confident this is a project under construction, (much like many of our
airplanes!) and not a finished product. Let's see where the webmaster takes
us.

The new look is clean and crisp, very "today," more contemporary then the
old page. Also, less cluttered. The Entry page provides a nice access to the
main content.

Areas to grow:

Updated builder and status of project list

Completed projects. Who is finished and flying

Tech Support - Manual updates and other manufacturer supplied updates

Additional support - Outside links / sources of useful information

A comprehensive listing of pieces / parts, and a published price list.

I'd love to see a list of all the extras I can get for my bird from Murphy.

Additional suppliers - Companies and individuals (such as Wayne) who make
dedicated accessories to the line.

"Photo Essays" and testimonials submitted by current builders.
(Darryl you can put me down for submitting one later this spring if you
would like!)

This bulletin board - Although we discuss the "Good, the Bad and the Ugly,"
nowhere is there more support and knowledge about the Murphy Aircraft line
then the collection of wizards attending this resource.

Publications / Reviews - reviews of the Murphy line from assorted
publications

Notice of Airshow schedule - Where can I plan to see and inspect Murphy
aircraft

Notice of builder meetings - Whether endorsed by the plant or not, the
meetings in Brampton (are there others?) helped me decide to buy a Murphy product.
Why not take advantage of this great exposure and make it public?

I'm sure I'll think of some other additions later, but these should keep the
webmaster busy for a while.

It's off to a great start!

IMO, the front page with logo, "Dreams come true here" and "Enter" button
is way too clean and simple. I mean cmon, a company with a radial engined
airplane ought to lead with a flying picture and some noise!

Also, IMO, with a bush plane the big opportunity would be a "destinations"
gallery/story set. After all, we don't need pavement.

This has got to be the Beta version of the site, basically the framework only
with more to come as it's developed (right Bob?????).

IMHO, looks sparse but it's nice to see even the old bulletins available.

We'll see how it develops.

Cheers,

Wayne, is it still slow on subsequent visits? It may be that your computer
needed to cache some files first for faster access during repeat visits.

Someone mentioned more images of bush and float flying on initial entry. I
very much agree, as that's what makes the Murphy planes so outstanding.

Instead of just having a pic gallery, maybe have a spot where
builders/pilots can post their own links to sites where they already have
interesting pics of building and flying. It can even be categorized, eg
fly-ins, building, float and bush flying, travel, etc. If people can post
their own, it would be less work for the webmaster, and you would probably
see a lot more interesting stuff more quickly. Also, now with YouTube and
other video sites, it can be a quick way to let people see your latest
adventures.

Walter

nowhere is there more support and knowledge about the Murphy Aircraft line
then the collection of wizards attending this resource.

[rebel-builders] MAM website

No Walter it's immediate now...I know it needed to cache files the first
time in. It still can't load the third image though.... as the cycle is too
fast changing picture to picture.

If I was browsing the a/c choices out there as a newbie looking for a kit
I'd pass on waiting 15 mintues for a page to load is all....

I'm sure there's a long way to go on the new website, know whom is doing it
and imagine that the first bit was punched up for "public" input.... such as
is being given.... before continuing to complete the rest of the site.

Wayne

Also, now with YouTube and
other video sites, it can be a quick way to let people see your latest
adventures.

I just opened up the new site and it works great Wayne: Each page and or
picture opens immediately and I am running WIN-DOSE Bob P It could be our
high speed cable I guess. I do like the layout although it is not as
impressive as the original home page.Bob J

Took 15 minutes to load the first page after clicking enter site. First
page
after that.....First two pics load...3/4/5 I get maybe 1/2 an inch of
each
picture when it's there turn and no more.

Honest input...can't put my finger on an exact reason..but I don't like
it.....but it's not my business and I'm not paying for the site
design....
