Bendix Radio

One of the bugs I have in my airplane is the lack of side tone when transmitting. I have a KY97A. Any avionics experts out there have any advice. Is there a front panel adjustment I have overlooked? It's hard to believe you spend big money for a product like this and they can't even supply you an operators manual, let alone an installation drawing!
It works well other than that. I can rewire my intercom to give side tone but would like to look at the radio first.
