The Murphy Builders Site

A friend of mine keeps trying to sell me an O-235. It's in a Fly Baby and
seems to be in good condition. I flew it last year. He doesn't want the
plane any more (after spending a couple years and $$ getting it flying after
a long storage in a LIBRARY). He doesn't want the liability of selling a
flying AC, so he is going to sell the engine and donate the plane to a
museum. Anyway, I want an O-320, but here's an O-235 in good condition for
$6,000 in my neighborhood. I wanted to ask you guys what you think about
buying this engine now, and swapping for a 320 later when I build the
floats. I think someone said the mounting pattern is the same (conical I
assume?) what about the cowl/baffles etc? I also remember some comments
about certain 235s being not so good. This one doesn't have an oil filter
for one thing.
Any comments would be appreciated.
