Back Seats - any photos

Post by Hibbs » Fri Feb 17, 2012 5:47 pm

I'd like to see a photo of the rear seats that are slung and face aft.
I like the idea of moving the CG forward and slung seats are easy to
remove. Can someone send me the name of the fellow who has his REbel
set up this way? I'd send him a disposable camera and postage. I will
ask Grant at Murphy as well.

Bob Patterson

Sorry, Scott. The fellow who built this Rebel is Tobey Riley. He
finished the Rebel, then sold it & retired to Florida to play semi-pro
golf !! He did an excellent job building - it is a low serial # .. 43???
He included many things that are now "Canadian Rebel Builders Group
<Standards>" - like the extra wrap around the rear bottom fuse section.
He also made an all-aluminum strip to hold his windshield, instead of
fibreglass.

The cloth slings were supported by 2 tubes identical to the
aileron torque tubes, with special machined fittings in the ends to
pick up the support brackets in the wing root, and in the fuselage
sides near the baggage area bulkhead. Grant wouldn't know anything
about this - it was before his time ! The only one there who <might>
remember it is Darryl Murphy. There might even be a drawing on file.

George Christie owns that Rebel now, and you could write him
at: 164 Boardwalk Drive, Toronto, Ontario M4L 3X4 Canada. It is
not flying currently, as he is stripping the paint and doing minor
fix-ups. (DO <NOT> use System 3 water-based urethanane paint !!! )
