[rebel-builders] Rebel - U-haul advice

Hi Randy !

I agree with Dale's suggestion. Go fly the Rebel with Phil - you'll
like it !! I'm assuming you can't cancel the flight .... Close the deal,
and arrange for another month or 2 of hangar use. OR - see below ... ;-)

If you're determined to drive, the floats & molds will be a fair load,
never mind the Rebel ! Still, likely cheaper to crate them & ship ....
and the shipper is on the hook for damage. Are the floats coming
from the Murphy factory ??? Even if they are not, you could pay
the factory to crate & ship them - cheaper than truck rental...

If you fly home WestJet, it can be very reasonable - and they
do have flights from Abbotsford, just down the road from Chilliwack ...
(Cheapest to pre-book a week ahead ...)

If the floats are coming from the factory, you and Phil could
fly the Rebel to Chilliwack, and leave it for Gordie (local mechanic -
with Rebel experience), or his son, to install the floats - possibly with
some help from the factory. By the time they are on, the weather
should be good, and we can fly her home !!

That's pretty much what I did with my previous Rebel ...

[quote]Thank you to those who offered their advice about renting from U-haul. You
now have me second guessing my decision to truck the Rebel, floats and
cowling moulds back to Burlington, Ont.. At this point in time I don't see
as I have much of a choice as two flights have already been booked for Feb.
13th. along with a hotel room in Victoria and the U-haul. I know the U-haul
can be cancelled with 24 hour notice but where do I go from there? Buget
doesn't rent one way to the eastern provinces. The only thing I can do is
insist on a newer decent truck and keep my fingers crossed. I am open to
any other suggestions but it looks like I am going to need a lot of luck. I
will keep you posted.
