I went up to the factory yesterday to pickup a dynafocal mount, high speed
cowl, windshield and assorted replacement parts (for parts that I
mangled...I mean didn't meet spec).

I just test fitted the dynafocal mount on the Elite firewall and the two
upper flanges on the mount appear to need a 1/8" to 1/4" trim for a snug
fit. These flanges overhang the firewall as-is.

I also looked a several pics of others' firewalls and it does look like
trimming or grinding is needed. Have other Rebel or Elite builders
experienced this?

A brief factory visit report:

I met Steve Cooper for the first time. Very pleasant, good guy and does have
a quiet sense of humor. He's getting up to speed on the inventory.

Just as others on the list, I've had items that I've been worrying about
that were ordered, lost in the personnel changes, but reconstructed.

I was pleased to see many of the parts for all Murphy planes lining the
inventory shelves. A completed crate for 808R was at the shipping door,
sealed up and ready to go. 809R had its top off, but looked almost full and
close to going (this was yesterday, Feb 1). There was a set of Moose fast
build wings crated up and looking close to shipping. Various smaller crates
with instrument panel and assorted parts. In the staging area across from
the inventory shelves, parts were being organized for a full size crate.
Bottom crate floor was down and wing skins in place, wing spars about to be
added.

Back in the factory, there was a Moose fuselage in the jig, well on its way.
The Kodiak was coming along, but the fuselage was still in fairly basic
pieces (tailcone not attached to cabin yet).

I was pleased to see shipping crates full of parts for many of you. It was
fairly quiet in the factory, but I was there during lunch. Would have been
nice to see a hive of activity.
