I went up to the factory yesterday to pickup a dynafocal mount, high speed
cowl, windshield and assorted replacement parts (for parts that I
mangled...I mean didn't meet spec).

I just test fitted the dynafocal mount on the Elite firewall and the two
upper flanges on the mount appear to need a 1/8" to 1/4" trim for a snug
fit. These flanges overhang the firewall as-is.

I also looked a several pics of others' firewalls and it does look like
trimming or grinding is needed. Have other Rebel or Elite builders
experienced this?

Yes..you must lop off the semicircle on the outboard edges to match the
firewall lip.

Hi Eric
Not using a Lycoming mount here Eric, but my mount needed something ground
off the outer side of the standard top hats that are used in most mounts to
get them to fit inside the flange around my firewall, so I think yes in
answer to your question.
