[rebel-builders] Leaky roof?
Posted: Sun Feb 19, 2012 11:38 am
I've never bothered. Only had one instance of water getting in this year and
it didn't come thru the cabin roof..... during the monsoon and 150KPH winds
that almost cartwheeled her down the lake.
DJK sat on the air lift at the lake for over 2 months this summer (well
other than when that Walter guy kicked me off it! LOL) and it even sits nose
down/tail high when on it...which would give more time for water to find
it's way in ..compared to say tail dragger angle. It rained darn near every
day it seemed...and all was well.

Is it common to use a sealant (proseal, Silkaflex etc.) when riveting the
roof panel to the root ribs? It seems like if any water runs under the
root
fairings it would leak into the cabin through that joint if it's not
sealed.
Thanks.
