[rebel-builders] RE: Parts orders from MAM

I made my mount. Another builder built a jig that I was able to modify for
my plane. If you ask I think murphy will tell you how much right angle and
down angle to use. For a cowl check the archives to find lots of reasons
not to buy from murphy. Just get a nose bowl and build an aluminum 4 door
cowl yourself.

How available is the design of a Rebel-Lycoming motor mount? I ask partly
just to raise the notion of James (or others, including myself) getting a
mount made locally. I know of a very experenced aircraft welder (and A&P)
near me and would consider that if I were in the same situation and the
plans/geometry were available.

Wayne,

Thanks for the update. This is my first post and I didn't want it to be
overly
critical of MAM, however, I am in the process of converting my Rebel (#424
purchased from the original builder) from Subaru power to Lyc 0-320. Sent
two emails to Nancy before I found out she was gone. Have now called
Steve the last 3 Mondays in a row with promises to get back to me. Still
waiting for a call. I'm pretty much resigned to buying materials from
other
sources at this point, except I need the cowl and engine mount from MAM.
Since my Rebel is already finished, the lack of response is really
hurting the
timeframe for me to get my airplane back in the air especially since my
engine
will be ready in the next two weeks. Hope things start settling down for
MAM
soon.

I know of a mount locally that I could measure and build my own, but am
trying to save some time. I've read a lot about the cooling issues with the
speed cowl, but I'm a glutton for punishment, plus my Dad is just finishing his
Rebel so we should have the cooling issues resolved by the time mine is ready
to mount. Spent the better part of two years working on cooling issues with
my Sube engine so this will be par for the course. I just like the looks
better. Plus I don't have any plans to put my Rebel on floats.
