[rebel-builders] Fus-31 placement

Just to avoid any confusion to anyone following this...the actual dimension
from the top of Fus-36 to the surface of Fus-31 is 5 5/8" (not 8") Jean.

If you have the 5/32 x RV1510's or 1512's then use them if you feel the hole
has gone beyond the expansion of an RV1410.

As for dimpling....I do not dimple any holes along the fus 30 to 31 joint or
the reinforce triangle for that matter. I've found that the fairings will
fit just as well going this way and infact the rivet heads actually keep the
fairings from chewing into the fus-30.

When I place the horizontal bulk head #fus 31, I have drill the top of
the tab at 8" instead of the bottom surface of the bulk head. I have
discover it when I tried to take measures for the tail spring bulkhead
#fus-49. So I had to remake the tail wrap (I had 3 of them! One is use
to make the doubler ontario mod #1). But in the work, some holes in the
tabs of the one piece bulkhead #fus-36 have enlarged. I do have
5/32" avex rivets for those but some have to be dimple plus couple of ones
in the gussets/hrizontal bulk head... That is the result of a less
than perfect english, you can read but it always ask more concentration
than your first language and... you understand?

Hello Wayne!

Everything look ok this morning.

A question... I made a mistake in the (not the first one!) and I had
to
remake a part. Because some holes (a lot) were already #30 when I
found it, The new part had to be drill direct to #30. Some hole of the
part that have been "drill" a "second time" have enlarge... The area
have some rivet that have to be dimple. 5/32" avex rivet will hard to
find and 3/16" are a bit big! Could I use contersunk 5/32" SS rivets
much easier to find for me?

I thought you were talking about the tab/flange to the Fus-36. On the tail
post for the fin remember to do my Service bulletin with the doubler on top
of the Fus-31 and the rivets MUST go up to RV1613's for those three rivets
holding the Fus-31 tab to the fin post.

Between the tail wrap fus#30 and the second one we use as a doubler, do you use just epoxy primer of if you use something "thicker"

Exactly Jean..all I use is a good coat of Epoxy to help bond and mainly to
keep the moisture out. Others have used PRC/Proseal here...but I feel that
mess is not necessary or worth the extra effort...especially if the day
comes you need to take it apart.
