I've used Dale's "tool" for several hundred rivets. It is a series of maybe
1.5" x .5" cylinders with either a #11, #21, #30 or #40 hole machined in the
center. One end of the cylinder has a semi-circular "divet" machined in it
to precisely fit the corresponding rivet head. So, one holds the cylinder
over and centered on the rivet head, and inserts the corresponding drill
into the machined hole and then drills off the rivet head.
Yes, Dale's tool works very well. The only downside, compared to the ACS
tool, is that Dale's cylinders to not have relief slots in them for the
metal shavings that result during the rivet head removal. Hence, Dale's
cylinders can clog up with shavings if one doesn't lift the cylinder up and
down off the drill occasionally.

Fortunately, I have not had to remove a lot of rivets.
Yet...
But one time when I visited Dale Fultz at his shop, he demonstrated for me
a
"home made" rivet drill guide that made the job look quick and easy. And a
lot simpler and less expensive then Aircraft Spruce's model.
Hopefully, Dale can provide additional detail next time he is on.

The price of mine compared to ACS and being smaller to get into tight places
I made do with them rather then redesigning them.. After doing several
hundred rivets it was easy after figuring out how to do it. Hopefully I
don't need to do that anymore... Dale SR-033 N269DF
