water drains

Hello, I seem to recall some discussion a while back regarding water
drains in the bottom of an airplane. I believe Wayne O you mentioned
draining some water out of fuselage - where were these drains located
and/or what would be the best spot to put in tail dragger configuration?

Thanks, Monica Piquette SR003

Monica (and Peter), Immediately in front of each bulkhead location drill a
1/8" to 5/32" hole along the center line crease of the tail cone. In the
cabin area you may want one in the center and one on each side so the cabin
drains if sitting on a slant. These holes in the cabin area should also work
fine when on floats as the cabin is usually about 2 degrees tail down when
on floats, so it will drain on land(amphibs) or in the water. The tail cone
however would need holes behind the bulkhead when the aircraft is on floats
to drain properly. You also need these drains in all components of the
aircraft. Most items will drain on their own due to the open ends of the
flaps and ailerons etc. Use common sense as to what will drain itself,
before drilling any unsightly holes.
