[rebel-builders] Auto gas in the M14

Hello Eddie,

The few comments I've heard include:
- Rumors that using Avgas can cause a problem with the rubber in the carb.
Rumor has it that a person in AK put a spare carb in a sealed jar containing
avgas and didn't see any issues with the carb after more than a year, but, I
haven't heard that directly from the person
- Another person told me that they plan to run a 50/50 mix of 100LL and
avgas, but I don't have flight test results from that person
- Yet another person told me that one should always take-off on 100LL and
run Avgas in cruise--I don't see how that's really practical other than
making a science project of having 100LL in one tank and avgas in the other.

Ted

Does anyone know the legalities and usage requirements of using Auto gas
or an auto gas mix with Avgas in the M14?

Legally it's a homebuilt so you can burn anything you want. Wheather it's
wise or not is a different question. The compression is low enough that
detonation shouldn't be a problem but if you get fuel with alcohol in it
the rubber parts may be damaged.
