[rebel-builders] baggage area tie downs

This discussion appears to be for a Rebel. FWIW it's really easy to install
strong tie down points on a Super Rebel/Moose. There are two long pieces of
aluminum channel under the floor that extend all the way to the back of the
cargo area. I just installed six 1/4" anchor nuts evenly spaced in the
cargo area, three in each channel. There are lots of options for what you
screw into those nuts and easily removed as well. I also built the fuselage
with the rear bench seat in mind. That puts two large brackets about
halfway up the bulkheads behind where the seat would be. I changed my mind
and went with bucket seats for the back and cut those brackets down to a
smaller size. Now I can rig a net from those brackets down to the first set
of anchor nuts on the floor to keep cargo (or dogs) from coming forward.

I don't have Waynes silky handed piloting skills so wanted a rugged tie down
arrangement to prevent cargo from causing injury in a crash. We used the
domed aluminum plates which have a 1" removable ring to accept tie downs.
Probably will make a cargo net with nylon straps to suit after airplane
completion. The domed plate use 2 - #10 screws to fasten them down. If
several are installed the ring inserts (which can be changed in seconds) can
be installed to suit or left home. Be sure they are suitably reinforced to
prevent tear out.

See www.fiberlinkweb.com/slings-anchor-points.html for images. These
anchors are available from a number of sources, this was just the first I
found.
