The Murphy Builders Site

Hi,
I have finished framing up my first Rebel wing and need the
table space for the second wing. I am thinking about hanging the
first on the wall by supporting the main spar on some angled
shelf brackets and running a cable up to a eye bolt on top to
hold it in place. Has anyone else have another idea? The best
would be to build a wing rack, but then my truck has to stay
outside.
I did purchase the new version of the Rebel manual. MAM
charged me 100 canadian for the manual and 70 more to ship it
to Alaska. Even so, I like the new manual much more. The
illustrations are better, having the pages numbered and dated
helps and it includes a lot of revisions that I never recieved.
There are still puzzling parts, but it is easier to work with
overall.

Bob,
I made a rack to store both wings leading edge down. The rack is vertical
2x6's with carpet strips to form a web. The wings sit in the web. There are
two of these one at each end of the wings. The rack has three uprights that
form the base for two slings. Two old car creepers make it ease to move out
of the way.

Bob, I built two wing storage racks to hold the wings leading edge down with
casters (4). This does not take up much space width wise and enables me to
move them around as req'd.-I used 3/4 ply and some scrap 2 x 3 screwed
together. This would enable you to move them outside on nice weather days.

Bob,
Al's right -
using wide strips of carpet is the easiest way. If you must hang them,
just hoist by the carpet, or tie ropes to the carpet.

Only thing to watch is: Don't let the carpet get WET !!! You will
get a LOT of surface corrosion under it....

Bob I have a foot or so of space above my garage door when it opens so I ran a joist
across the inner end and near the door a half joist on either side of the track. The
first wing has been sitting up there to the left of the track out of the road and quite
happy for over a year. The second wing is going to join it on the right side of the track
in a couple of days. ...Wray
