I got 100% for that answer on a Psych exam once!
Just wondering why you'd go Glastar after a Rebel....they don't do what a
Rebel will do. And they also do stuff that a Rebel won't...that ain't fun!
Not into any airplane that needs strakes/stall strips and the likes to
correct bad characteristics. Kinda like the Cirrus that doesn't have a
parachute for safety...has it because it won't recover from spins and FAA
mandated it.

Not sure I would be much help with a Glastar. If you want me to have a
look I can go up and visit the outlet mall and do a peek at the offer at
the same time. My wife would like that I think.

Wasn't aware that the aircraft had some bad characteristics. Is it the same
as the newer sportsman? I understand that the wings are identical and
haven't heard or anything wrong about them thus far. Understand they're in
demand right now specially flying. The kit is not enclosed and has a 0 SMOH
engine and alot of the options. Not too interested at this time for a kit
build from the start but would opt for someting that is aways along on
construction. I know that the quality of workmanship is another issue. Very
close in ordering the Bearhawk Patrol plans. Can't see the sence in
constructing a kit build aircraft in 2,000 hrs when I can scratch build one
in the same time with alot less cost. Each to their own, Right!?

I know it had some stall and handling issues before they added strakes
and/or the likes. Probably an okay airplane with them on ,,,,just scares me
a tad when a design has to be coaxed to fly correctly. Also know of one that
stalled and dove thru the water removing the floats on 6 mile lake!...but
that one was pilot induced like the other few airplanes he'd damaged.

Hi Steve I like the patrol too. I just got tailwheel plans from them last
week. There's some guys near me in Stratford Cuttting all the tubing on a
CNC machine. I'm not sure you could even buy the tubing for what they're
selling the pre-cut kit for. Check out

Thanks Drew
I saw this last week when I was surfing the web. The only thing that
bothers me after researching the Bearhawk several years ago is the
extravagant landing gear and aileron/flap hinges but I understand that
someone is making some of the parts. Do u think that the raw tubing for the
Patrol would be about or more than 3,500.US? I have not priced 4130 tubing
for quite some time but is most likely up in price. Reviews on the plane
are very inpressive. Have a soft spot for the Maule look-a-like too!

Hi Steve I took a quick glance at aircraft spruce prices ( can't check
dillsburg they don't do internet )and it seems $50 a 20' lenghth is close
enough for rough figuring. I'd guess about a dozen lengths in a fuselage or
$600. So It's probably cheaper to go with raw materials but what is your
time worth?
