[rebel-builders] Changes to panels - Stick Clearance - pedal travel

Thanks Ken

I guessed about another 1.5 inches for the brakes would be a good guess.
I'll be doing the final crimp on the cables in a few days so if I leave a
total of 4 inches or more that should cover both rudder and brake at the
same time.

I'll do the stick after I've done the elevator cables (possibly in a couple
of days as well if all goes well with the rudder). I think full travel at
all extremes is a good thing to aim for, and hopefully never need to use it
:-)

Thanks for the alternator electric info in your other post as well - never
thought about it from that angle but that does make sense as well.

Is the rebel the same rudder pedal setup as the Elite? I can measure
next week if you like.

With the bottom of the master cylinders mounted on the floor, the pedal
will not tilt as far forward which does help if need be. I have very
little pedal tilt when I apply brakes. No more than an inch I think.
However you want to be able to apply full brake and full rudder at the
same time without stubbing your toe on the firewall!!! I notice that
the new rebel manual actually had a recommended spacing from the
firewall for the pedals.

I shortened the stick such that I could get full forward and full
aileron at the same time without hitting the panel. Not sure I needed to
as I can't imagine actually needing that combination.

Hi Al

Just about to start nicopressing the cable ends on at the rudder and
elevator - so after that I'll be deciding how much to cut off the stick.
I'll keep the stick as long as I possibly can.

On that thread - anyone measured the typical travel at the top of the brake
pedals to operate the brakes so I don't position the pedals too close to
the
firewall that I can't get full rudder and pedal deflection if I need it ?

I reckon by trig the rudder pedal will travel just over 1.5 inches to
produce 25 degrees at the rudder, but how much does the brake travel alone
add to that figure ?

Thanks
