Flapperons vs. flaps?

Bob:
Do the flapperons have the same affect as regular flaps when on final. My
experience is mostly in a 172 and at 30 degrees of flaps, they slow me down
very nicely. I have been practicing with 1-20 flaps and slipping to gain more
experience. I know that the flapperons provide better low speed handling,
but do they also provide the same drag effect as regular flaps?
