worried about getting it done, just about forgetting something that I should

Thanks Mike:

I have a fairly large iron that I used for covering my my 45% RC aircraft. It is
a bit bigger than the standard RC hobby irons. It will go to 400 degrees.

What do you use?

Buy your mother a new one and steal her old one :) or check out garage
sales. I found that the old iron I have used for waxing skis since I was a
teenager (and it was old then) holds it's temperature within 5 degrees
after I calibrated it.

Fabric covering is easy. Just pick the system you want to use and follow
the manufacturers instructions.

Yes you will want that Polyfiber covering manual if using polyfiber
products.

I used 3 quarts of silver and 4 quarts of the pink polybrush so a gallon
of each is probably the cheapest way to buy chemicals. The small can of
glue ( a pint I think) was way more than I needed.

You may want to purchase the necessary tapes as for me it was very time
consuming trying to get the 3" wide tape down smooth on the trailing
edge. MAM said to cut that from excess covering material but mine had
folds and creases in it that did not want to lay down flat. And the edge
of my homemade tape is a bit ragged.

An old clothes iron worked fine for me as well once calibrated with
their thermometer as per the polyfiber manual. And don't forget a few
vent washers or seaplane vents.

For anyone attending Oshkosh or Sun'n Fun, it is worth attending the
polyfiber covering workshop for a couple of hours of hands on experience
and to get the idea of how the process works. Nothing difficult about it
once you see it.

it from hHorizon Hobbies about 6-7 years ago. It was called a Hanger 9 Giant
Scale iron and I don't believe they still make it, but you can check.

Try www.poly-fiber.com and then click misc. covering supplies. They
list a fabric iron and a hobby iron.

These people, Jim and Dondie (? spelling), teach fabric at Oshkosh and
Sun-N-Fun. Good people and if you have a problem, call their business
and they will have the answer.

Try www.poly-fiber.com and then click misc. covering supplies. They
list a fabric iron and a hobby iron.

These people, Jim and Dondie (? spelling), teach fabric at Oshkosh and
Sun-N-Fun. Good people and if you have a problem, call their business
and they will have the answer.
