G'day y'self !

We have had good luck with the # 9044 bungees - these are ready-made
rings of 9/16" X 4 1/2" available from most a/c suppliers. Just pop them
on one end & use a ratchet tie-down strap to pull the other end down to
the bottom bolt. Use a large screwdriver to slide it into position.
The trick is to put the top bolt head to the front, and the bottom one
to the back, so it is easy to slide the bungee on, without going over
the big washer. You will likely need 3 rings on front & 3 on back,
on each leg. The 3rd one sits on top of the first 2, in the groove.
It will help if you can make up Delrin spindles to slide over the
bolts - this gives a larger radius so the bungees move freely, AND
helps load the bolt in tension, when the nut & washer are added,
helping prevent the bolt from bending...

If you want to make up your own rings using the factory materials,
there is a drawing on www.dcsol.com/murphy-rebel - i think it's called
bgtool or similar ...

You're right about the "book" method for doing the bungees - it is
almost impossible to get them stretched tight enough - they usually go
slack after a couple of landings !

Good luck !! You WILL love flying the Rebel !!! :-)

Has any one any experience with ready made bungee rubbers for the Rebel
main gear?
I really don't think that I can get the factory system to work
satisfactorily.

A friend of mine replaced the factory rubber on his Renegade with ready
made rings and it worked just fine

I would appreciate some input.

Yes you do. Eight will not get the job done. Putting a 3/4 to 1 inch
bushing over the bolts front and rear is also a good idea. I think a lot of
others on this list will agree.

Yes ! Unless you've got a very light, 912 powered Rebel .....
then you might get by with 8 :-)

Some time ago I posed the question regarding #9044 suspension rubbers.

Do I really need a total of 12 rubbers to do the job?
