I am installing a Scott 3200 tailwheel on FOKM and am looking for the
tension springs. ACS offers P/N 2151 lightweight Spring Kit Scott for
$44.20 on page 244 of their catalog and also P/N 06-00008 Heavy duty
tension spring kit on page 242 for $19.90 - also associated with the
Scott.

Anyone know which is the proper one to coordinate with the strength of
the arm assembly? It looks like the heavy duty springs might be
associated with the 3200A???

The old springs are compression type which can break the arms on a Scott
3200 according to Wayne's note of a couple of years ago.

$200 if you break it like Howard did, so I don't want that risk.

Thanks. I imagine the Moose tailwheel you're referring to is a Murphy
design. I don't know but suspect it would be compression type springs
same as the Rebel so they would not do. Can you remember what style they
are?

note dated 10/21/2004 on Scott tailwheels. If you are involved with any
soft ground or are inclined to punch the rudder hard at times, you could
be in for some difficulty with Murphy's springs on a 3200.

Garry...Princess Auto's spring # is TE85 Spring. The # from bar code on
package is 0 59858 00085 4.

Worked really well on Howard's with the Scott 3200 last season on
wheels......as Bob P. has Howard's original Scott 3200 and Scott springs
on
XWI.... no matter what Bob's memory states! LOL ;O)

BTW...spring coil is 1" diameter x 1 7/8 long. Overall length with spring
hooks is approx 3 3/8"

Now I am confused!

I will upgrade my springs from MAM to the proper Scott springs. But just
what spring set should I use?

Is ACS a good place to buy them?
