The pneumatic cleeco plier that is sale by "The Yard Store"
(http://www.yardstore.com/index.cfm?acti ... ategory=88)
is the one that I use since 18 months (1-1/2 wing!). With a very soft
polyurethane hose, it is a wonderful tool when you have to remove a lot of
cleeco...

another question to everyone...do you find they wear out the cleco springs
from full stroking the mechanism of the cleco. Ie..do you have any clecos
that no longer pull tight?

Yup if I don't use the pneumatic puller from Spruce, it is the same
symptoms as operating the chainsaw for too long, and I get real grumpy
without my sleep! The puller needs a drop of oil occasionally, same as
the pneumatic drill, or it starts to bind up and not fully release the
cleco for removal. It needs about 90 psi to fully pull but I have an
additional air line restrictor to slow it down a bit so it doesn't hit
the work quite so hard when removing clecos. It doesn't pull the clecos
any tighter than I do by hand so I don't believe it has any detrimental
effect on cleco life. Did you leave any fish left up there for next
year Wayne ? ;)

I had some fun and expanded the flight testing a bit this morning. A
windmilling 3 blade Warp prop seems to be a fair bit of drag at cruise
speed on 119R as expected, but at 60 knots there is surprisingly little
difference in descent rate between slow idle (600 prop rpm with closed
throttle) and a stopped prop. Some airplanes glide significantly farther
with a stopped prop but apparently mine is not one of them.

Thanks...I just tried ordering both models from The Yard (even got an order
confirmation) and then got a phone call minutes ago to be told I amazed them
that I was able to put the linked $24.95 pistol grip tool into my shopping
cart. Apparently they removed it, no more stock, from their website days
ago. I wanted one of each style to see which worked best ergonomically. Oh
well, gotta be better than what I have now and I think a well spent $64.95
(that I probably should have spent 10 years ago!!)

Lots of fish left Ken...didn't get out a lot and when we did not much was
caught.

Did you stop it on purpose is the question?

Yup stopped it on purpose. No big deal with an instant starting EFI car
engine and kind of fun to be in a glider for awhile ;)
Funny part was that I climbed high while heading to a grass strip for
the excercise then realized that a North South strip wasn't going to be
much good with a 20 knot wind from the West...

At first I thought a pistol grip cleco puller would be more ergonomic
than mine. However when working on horizontal surfaces I hold it the
same way I'd hold a bottle of beer and all is comfortable ;)

Beats the crap out of the manual pliers. I can insert cleco's much faster
