Hi guys and gals: During the construction of the Mevissen Moose 226 we where concerned about the spring gear attachment points. In reviewing the "pponk fix for Cessna aircraft (www.pponk.com) we came up with a redesigned fus 331. I have posed a picture in the archives under SM landing gear. ( or "new files") the one on the left is obviously our redesign with the one on the right as furnished with the kit. We had two of these made for the quick build and I was able to bolt them right in as new replacements. The only two requirements are longer bolts and covers as they will extend slightly above the floor. Also when installing the landing gear you must shim the opening to eliminate any movement. Please review the above fix for Cessna for a complete description on why this fix should be done. I have this new part in AutoCAD 2000 format if anyone is interested. I would be happy to forward you the drawing. We also increased the thickness of the part from 1 1/4 to 1 1/2" for a little additi
onal strength. This typ
e
of retention should be used in any spring gear retention which will become obvious after reading the pponk web site. Thanks -Bob Johnson - QB Moose 226, Rebel 192/731
